How to safely sanitize your piano keys has been a big topic for 2020. QRS Music Technologies, a leading producer of recording and player technology for acoustic pianos, has created an enclosed UV light box to sterilize piano keys without the use of harsh chemicals that break down the surface of your keytops over time or alcohol which can slowly dry out the surface causing small cracks.

Lid Safety
A hydraulic lid system has been implemented on a couple pianos for a few years now. However, there is new design that makes it available for a technician to install on any grand piano and without major modification. The magic lid system allows you to lift a heavy grand piano lid with very little effort and prevents the lid from crashing down if the lid prop is ever compromised. I'm not sure I agree it's "the greatest advancement to the piano in 100+ years" as the video states but definitely a good idea for those who may have trouble lifting the weight of their piano lid or if the piano is in a high traffic or common room where someone may bump into it.
